Good news for farmers and agricultural labourers in Uttar Pradesh. Meritorious students from these families will now receive an annual scholarship of ₹60,000 under the Chief Minister Krishak Scholarship Scheme. The scholarship amount has been increased to help students pursue higher education in agriculture and related fields. Earlier, eligible students received ₹36,000 per year. The revised amount will provide greater financial support to students studying agriculture, horticulture, forestry, animal husbandry and other related subjects.

Monthly Scholarship Rises to ₹5,000

The scheme is run by the Uttar Pradesh State Agricultural Produce Market Council. Under the revised arrangement, eligible students will receive ₹5,000 per month instead of the earlier ₹3,000. This means students will get an additional ₹2,000 every month. The increase is expected to help meritorious students from farming families manage education-related expenses and continue their studies without as much financial pressure.

Scholarship Seats Doubled

Along with increasing the scholarship amount, the state has also doubled the number of beneficiaries. Earlier, 1,410 students received scholarships under the scheme. This number has now been increased to 2,820. The move will allow more eligible students from farming and agricultural labourer families to benefit from the financial assistance and pursue higher education in agriculture and related disciplines.

More Seats at Universities and Colleges

The number of scholarship seats has also been increased across universities, agricultural institutions and colleges. At universities and agricultural institutions, the number of beneficiaries has risen from 45 to 90. Each agricultural college will now provide scholarships to 30 students instead of 15. For undergraduate agriculture courses, seats have increased from 25 to 50. Postgraduate agriculture seats have risen from 10 to 20. Seats for undergraduate home science courses have increased from six to 12, while postgraduate home science seats have gone up from four to eight. At agricultural colleges, undergraduate scholarship seats have doubled from 10 to 20, and postgraduate seats from five to 10.

Scheme Covers 11 Universities and 61 Colleges

The scholarship scheme is applicable at 11 agricultural universities and institutions and 61 agricultural colleges across Uttar Pradesh. The expanded number of seats is intended to give more students an opportunity to receive financial assistance for higher education. Students planning to pursue agriculture and related courses can check the scheme's eligibility requirements before applying.
