Rule Change From November 1: A new rule is going to be implemented in the country from November 1. Following an order from the Central Government, the Department of Telecommunications has issued a directive starting that is will be mandatory to display the caller’s name for all mobile users. People use apps like Truecaller for phone calls coming from unknown numbers, but now everyone will be able to get information about unknown calls without any app.

The Department of Telecommunications has ordered telecom service providers to implement 'Calling Name Presentation' (CNAP) from November 1. CNAP is a verified calling identification system in the country, through which information about an unknown number can be known when a phone call is received.

How this system works
The Calling Name Presentation system can be better understood with an example. If an unknown caller makes a call to your phone, whose number is not saved in your contact book, then along with the unknown phone number, that caller’s name will now also appear on your phone. This name will be the name that the caller provided at the time of taking the SIM card. Suppose if the caller is international, 'International Call' will appear on the mobile.

What is the Government's objective
Actually, with the help of this new rule, the government wnats to completely crub cyber fraud. Many times people fall victim to cyber fraud because of these unknown numbers and lose their hard-earned money. The government wants information about every number to reach people now so that people can avoid these crimes and, if a crime occurs the scam caller who committed the fraud can be tracked down.

Service will start for 4G and 5G users
According to the Department of Telecommunications, when a call is received be 4G and 5G service users, it will be mandatory under CNAP to display the callers name on the users phones. The rollout for 2G and 3G networks will begin later.
