Police in Kerala have arrested a woman named Manji in connection with the alleged murder of her eight-month-old daughter, nearly three years after the infant’s body was discovered in Pathanamthitta district. The child’s body was recovered from a marshy grassland in Valanjavattom on August 12, 2023, within the limits of Pulikeezhu police station. According to the police investigation, the infant was allegedly killed after crying at night while sleeping. The case remained unresolved until investigators received fresh information that led them to question the mother. Police allege that the child’s mother and two other men were involved in disposing of the body to conceal the crime. Manji was arrested, produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Meanwhile, police teams are searching for the two other accused, identified as Sivan and his younger brother, Shakthi.

Investigation Reveals Events Leading to the Infant’s Death

According to the investigation, Manji had marital differences with her husband, Isakki, in 2023 and subsequently moved to Alappuzha with her infant daughter. She reportedly met Sivan at a shop in Kalarcode, where he offered to take care of her and brought her to Changanassery. The two allegedly began living on a shop veranda. Police claim that one night in August 2023, the baby started crying while asleep, prompting Sivan to allegedly kill her. Investigators further allege that Manji and Sivan sought help from his younger brother, Shakthi, to dispose of the child’s body in a marshy area at Valanjavattom. The allegations are part of the ongoing investigation, and the role of each accused will be determined through the legal process.

Suspicion Leads to Breakthrough in Three-Year-Old Case

The case reportedly gained fresh momentum after Manji returned to her residential colony in Palakkad without the child. When the colony promoter questioned her about the infant and did not receive a clear explanation, the matter was reported to the police. During questioning, Manji allegedly confessed to her involvement, following which she was arrested and sent to judicial custody. A special investigation team led by Thiruvalla Deputy Superintendent of Police P. R. Santhosh is handling the case. Police have named Sivan as the prime accused, Shakthi as the second accused and Manji as the third accused. Search operations are underway at possible locations to trace the two men. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death and the alleged role of all three suspects.
