Crime News: Police in Gujarat’s Kheda district have arrested a woman’s husband and brother-in-law in connection with the alleged murder of a 13-week pregnant woman. The victim, identified as Arunaben Sodha, was found dead on October 17 in Mahudha taluka. According to the police investigation, the case initially came to light as a suspected suicide, but the woman’s family raised concerns about the circumstances of her death. Investigators subsequently examined the post-mortem findings and forensic evidence, which reportedly indicated that the death was not consistent with suicide. Police suspect that the crime was linked to the husband’s doubts about his wife’s character. The allegations are under investigation.
Police Probe Uncovers Alleged Conspiracy
According to investigators, Arunaben reportedly complained of severe abdominal pain on the night of October 17 and asked her husband, Mitul Sodha, to take her to a doctor. Police allege that he failed to arrange medical assistance and instead searched online for information about the legal consequences if his wife died by suicide. Investigators suspect that a conspiracy was subsequently carried out involving members of the household. According to the allegations, the woman was restrained and forcibly made to consume nano urea, a chemical fertiliser product. Police believe the substance contributed to her death. Afterward, the accused allegedly attempted to make the incident appear to be a suicide by suspending her body near a window.
Post-Mortem Findings Lead to Arrests
The investigation reportedly gathered crucial evidence from the post-mortem examination and forensic analysis. According to police findings cited in reports, the marks on the woman’s neck were allegedly caused after her death, while traces of a toxic substance were also reportedly detected. Based on the evidence collected so far, police arrested Mitul Sodha and his brother, Vipul Sodha. Investigators are continuing efforts to locate other alleged suspects, including the victim’s mother-in-law and sister-in-law. The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against the accused will be subject to the legal process. The death of Arunaben and her unborn child has raised serious concerns about the circumstances of the incident and the evidence being examined by authorities.
