A piece of news urging caution has come to light for Indian students aspiring to go abroad to study. The dreams of thousands of Indian students applying for an Ireland student visa have been dashed. The biggest reason for this is that students are using AI tools, such as ChatGPT, to write their visa applications and Statements of Purpose (SOP).

64 Percent Applications Rejected
According to the recent data, a total of 5,100 Indian students applied for a student visa to study in Ireland this year. However, when the Irish Embassy and visa officers scrutinized the documents around 3,300 applications were iimmediately rejected. This directly means that the visas of nearly 64 percent of applicant Indian students were rjected iimmediately due to AI written scripts.

How Did Officers Find Out
Nowadays, foreign embassies have advanced AI detection tools available. These easily detect whether a text has been written by a human using their own mind or has been auto-generated by a computer.  When officers examined the files, they noticed the same artificial language, words, and writing patterns in thousands of students' applications. In this AI-generated content, the students' own thoughts, authenticity, and originality were entirely absent.

SOP is a Crucial Document
The Statement of Purpose (SOP) is the most important document in the visa application process. Through this, visa officers seek to understand why a student genuinely wishes to study in that country and what their future plans are. According to the rules, this letter must be written by the student themselves, but students used ChatGPT to write the letter to save effort. Considering this as fraud and a lack of sincerity the embassy rejected the visa applications.
